Consumate V's!!!!!

Looking over our Trogdors the other day, hubby and I decided something was missing. Consummate V's!!!!--how could we have overlooked them?
Clearly, our skills of an artist needed to be improved. We've taken our lesson from Professor Strongbad, and improved our technique. I also started on the neckband, which is shown in the middle. Behold, consummate V's:

And the public announcement of which cloak Adam craves. The photos are from Janet Arnolds Patterns of Fashion.

I think its lovely, with clean lines to go with his simple ivory and black look. Also, I think I probably can do a decent job of the couching, since the pattern is blown up nicely below, and not *too* complicated.

Adam has mentioned either having the cloak be a deep green velvet to add a splash of color to his ensemble, or have it be black velvet with gold/ivory couching, and a striking green lining. Opinions?

Well, opinion #1 is that clearly Professor Strongbad would be saying "what the crap?" at us for forgetting the consummate v's. And the angry eyebrows. Very nice, my dear.

Opinion #2 is a non-opinion. I like both green options for the cloak. Either way, there will be splashiness. So maybe just base that one on which layer you can find in a nice green? Our boys will look like Christmas eh? Oh that is officially *not* the cloak that the Aaron requested, so they will officially *not* have to duke it out, by fisticuffs, arm-wrestling, or much more likely, some sort of video game.

Good call with the cloak fabric. I'm a fan of black with green lining, i think. But there is that roll of cotton velveteen at joanns. In dark green. And I have a 50% coupon for this weekend. Hmmmmm.....

And now you've got me really considering some dupioni for spanish, again witht he 50% coupon temptation....

Beth--I'll be getting back to you about fabric choices in an email tonight--I'm gonna take pics of my pinking experiments for you.

beautiful pattern (thank you for posting this pictures)! Couching would look very good - but did you ever think about embroidering this pattern with white beads?

In all honesty, I'm really inexperienced with embroidery/couching/etc. The only thing I've tried so far is blackwork. So, yes, I'm open to suggestions. ;) White beads sound really interesting, actually. Thanks for the suggestions!

On my list of things to do "soon" is to get an embroidery book from my local library, cuz I need to give myself a little tutorial. I'm eager to start his cloak, but my inexperience with embroidery/couching is kinda a bottleneck. Hehe.
